A California Highway Patrol officer is dead and two others injured after a highway gun fight erupted in Riverside. It happened around 5:30p.m. Monday on the 215 when 34-year-old Officer Andre Moye pulled over a pickup truck that was tagged for impounding.
Authorities say while Moye was doing paperwork, the suspect, 49-year-old Aaron Luther, grabbed a rifle and and started shooting at Moye.
Moye, who later died, was able to call for backup and multiple officers arrived on scene. Luther was also killed in the gun battle, which Riverside Police Chief Sergio Diaz called long and horrific. One of the officers injured in the fight is in critical condition. The other suffered minor injuries; two bystanders also received minor injuries.
