Complaint Filed Against Judge for Giving Bible to Dallas Cop Amber Guyger

We told you yesterday how the actions by the brother of the man killed by Dallas police officer Amber Guyger at her sentencing trial have been a big topic on social media.

The video of Brandt Botham in the courtroom saying he would forgive her and telling her that God would forgive her and then hugging her….quickly went viral this week.

And now there’s more news that came out of the courtroom at that sentencing hearing that is getting a lot of buzz on social media.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation has filed a complaint with the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct against the trial judge because she gave a Bible to the former cop after she was sentenced to 10 years for the murder. And the judge also gave Amber Guyger a hug as did the victim’s brother. (Watch video below)

The foundation says Judge Tammy Kemp's "proselytizing actions overstepped judicial authority”, adding that “while we believe our criminal justice system needs more compassion from judges and prosecutors”, in this case, “compassion crossed the line into coercion.”

So now the judge may be facing a trial of her own, having to defend herself because she gave a Bible to a sentenced murderer as she heads to prison.

A trial like that, between freedom of religion vs freedom from religion would be of interest to a lot of people, especially, if they were still around, our nation’s founders.
