A Message for the Military in San Diego As Tensions Rise in Middle East

Yesterday’s brief security scare at the North Island Naval Base on Coronado would have not been much of a scare had it not been for the situation right now with Iran.

Making checks of vehicles into local military bases happens every day when something has to be checked out.

But with tensions still rising in the Middle East after the Iranian attack on U.S. military bases in Iraq, there will be even more security scares from time to time for a while.

That’s what happens in a place like San Diego, home to the most military bases in any city in the country and tens of thousands of Marines and sailors on duty and on call every day around the clock, knowing that they could be deployed at any time.

Families of military personnel are certainly feeling the tension when things like this are happening.

Lots of breaking news alerts about threats and attacks and speeches by presidents about what may happen next fill the radio airwaves and the television screens.

While it is not another 9-11, and we hope and pray that we never have another one, it is a time for all of us to remember the men and women in our military and why we do thank them for their service.
