Second Possible Person-to-Person Case of Coronavirus Reported in California

Health officials are reporting a second case of the Coronavirus in the United States believed to have been transmitted to a person who didn't travel internationally or come in close contact with anyone who had it.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that officials are ``aware of a second possible instance of community spread of COVID-19 in California.``

Santa Clara County health officials said the patient is an older adult woman with chronic health conditions. She is not known to have traveled to an area with many infections or to Solano County where Thursday's case originated.

The California Department of Public Health issues a news release saying this could be the second known instance of person-to-person transmission. It went on to say it has been actively coordinating response efforts across the state and preparing for possibile community transmission.
