San Diego County health officials late Wednesday announced that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county had risen to 80 from 60 the day before.
The County health agency also announced that that all gatherings of 10 or more are to be avoided along with any non-essential gathering of any kind.
Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten also said all bars and fitness gyms in the county "shall close" and that residents of the county practice social distancing wherever they are, which means abiding by the Centers for Disease Control guidelines.
In addition, seniors of 65 or older are especially encouraged not to visit any places where people are gathered. The county's amended health order also restricts childcare to "stable' groups of 10 children.
The county also said the number of positive cases of coronavirus has risen from 55 to 60. Health officials also said that passengers on the Eurodam cruise ship which arrived in San Diego this week were told to go home immediately upon their arrival and to self quarantine for 14 days. There were no passengers with positive tests at the time of their arrival at the local cruise port.
