Three more deaths from COVID-19 were reported by San Diego County health officials Friday.
At their daily briefing, it was announced that one man in his mid 50s and another man in his early 80s had died. County health officials said the third case involved a 25-year-old man who was a pharmacy technician who had no underlying health conditions.
The young man's body was found in a La Quinta residence where he had been in self-quarantine. An autopsy confirmed he died of COVID-19. There now have been six deaths reported by San Diego County health officials since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
As of 6 p.m. Friday, the County was reporting 417 positive cases of coronavirus.
San Diego Police Officer Tests Positive for COVID-19
San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced Friday that one city police officer had tested positive for the coronavirus and is at home. At least four other officers were in sell-isolation after having had come in contact with someone with the virus. Faulconer said three city lifeguards have also tested positive. The mayor asked city residents to help public safety personnel who cannot be at home by staying at home and obeying orders against gatherings and close contact with others. All city beaches and parks were ordered closed earlier in the week.
