San Diego County Restricts Cruise Ships; Number of Coronavirus Cases Rise

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in San Diego County rose to 603 as of late Monday afternoon, up from 519 on Sunday.

County health officials say 118 of the people who have contracted the virus have been hospitalized with 51 needing to be in intensive care.The number of deaths in the county remains at seven including a 25 year old man.

The county Monday also issued new public health orders regarding cruise ships.

Starting Wednesday, April 1st, no cruise ship will be allowed to dock in San Diego unless it is for fueling or for provisions. No one on board will be allowed to embark unless it's an emergency situation.

Another order says that if a cruise ship is allowed to dock,no passenger or crew member can disembark if anyone on board has tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Eric McDonald says the only positive cases on any of the cruise ships that have arrived over the last couple of weeks were aboard the Disney ship, Wonder with one passenger and one crew member.
