A church leader this week said the coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to a standstill.
The economy certainly is at a standstill, with all of us being ordered to stand apart…and far enough away from each other….not to get the virus or not to give it to someone else.
Millions of stores, restaurants and other businesses have been forced to close and tens of millions of Americans have been forced to file for unemployment after being laid off.
And no one really knows how long this will go on. That’s up to what we do and what the virus does.
We all want to know when things will start getting back to so-called normal, but the world has changed over the last couple of months and in some ways that may be permanent.
And that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing.We’re seeing people behaving differently now, every day, showing kindness and mercy and compassion to others they don’t even know and in ways that are often too rare in the ‘normal’ times.
The trials that we all go through in our personal lives often teach us something that we end up being thankful for..something that changes us in a better way.
What we learn from going through this pandemic could indeed change us into better people.And that should give us hope. Especially at a time when what’s happened has gotten our attention…and especially as we celebrate Easter.
