We’ve all been wondering for almost two months now when things will get back to normal.
While California’s Governor said this week, there is light at the end of the tunnel and that the current state will not be a permanent state, now we’re wondering what it will be like when the stay at home order and other coronavirus restrictions begin to be eased.
Governor Newsom said the new normal will not be the old normal for quite some time. So what could this new normal look like?
The governor and the state’s Director of Public Health say face masks and coverings will probably remain common in public, and when restaurants are allowed to open, there will be fewer tables, farther apart, with disposable menus. There could be temperature checks taken as customers come into restaurants and stores.
When schools re-open next fall, classroom set ups could look different, schedules could be staggered, and group activities on the playground and in P-E could be different. Tele-working and tele-meetings could remain common in the new normal.
As the governor put it, opening up the state once the 6 indicators he outlined say we can, won’t be like turning on a light switch…saying it will be more like a dimmer, loosening restrictions and tightening them if cases begin to grow. In other words, for a while, the new normal will still be abnormal.
