They were words that we all wanted to hear. They came yesterday from local, state and federal elected officials.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. The words from County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, Governor Newsom and President Trump.
But just how long is that tunnel and how far is that light at the end of it? That’s what everyone is now anxious to know.
After close to six weeks of staying at home and staying away from other people, most Americans are undoubtedly getting anxious about when we begin to approach getting back to at least an altered normal.
But with the words we heard about there now being light at the end of the tunnel coming on the same day that the that the number of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S rose to a the highest single day total since the pandemic began, that light could still be some distance away.
In one day yesterday, 2,228 people across the country died from the coronavirus. according to the latest reports.
The top health officials have been saying for weeks that peaks had to be reached… before the rate of cases would slow.
That has been happening in many areas in recent days, including San Diego. But in many other areas, the curve still has not been flattened.
So the opening of the country could still be 2 to 4 weeks away depending on where you live in the U.S.
And that’s why for now…we must stay the course…and keep doing what we’re doing…. or else it could take even longer…to reach that light at end of that tunnel.
