San Diego County on Tuesday reported 32 additional COVID-19 related deaths.
The 32 COVID-19 deaths bring the total to 1,194 since the start of the pandemic. Those whose deaths were reported Tuesday included nine women and 23 men who died between Nov. 23 and Dec. 14. Their ages ranged from mid-50s to early 100s and all but one of the deceased had underlying medical conditions.
The county reported 1,863 new cases bringing the total to 111,441. Health officials say 5,212 or 4.7% of all cases have required hospitalization. The 14-day rolling positive test rate is at 8-percent.
“The extremely high number of cases shows that San Diegans are not following the guidance we’ve given. Protect yourself and others. The virus is everywhere,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “Staying at home with people from your own household is a must. People should not be out in public unless it is absolutely necessary.”
