The decision to no longer sell six Dr. Seuss books announced by the San Diego-based company that controls the late La Jolla author’s catalog has prompted some Dr. Seuss style thoughts.
He was known as Dr. Seuss, but his real name was Ted
He was known for the many kids books that were read.
Six of the books that he wrote, the books that were written
Now are no longer where they used to be sittin’.
Removed from the shelves and not there, do you see?
It wasn’t Thing 1 or Thing 2 but a new Thing, Thing 3.
It used to be known as something just called “P-C”
Political correctness was the term it would be.
But now there’s a new name for this same kind of Thing
Cancel culture it’s called, not quite the same ring.
The who’s down in Whoville would understand it for sure
Because the Grinch tried to do it to them and lots more.
Dr. Seuss Enterprises says these six books are not good
And there are some who believe it or think that they would.
There are others who say not to make the books go away
But use them as lessons to learn from back in the day.
From the past, there are things we can learn, yes indeed
The ways we look at others who look different than we.
We all learn the lessons of life in some way...
And no one is free from fault wouldn’t you say?
