Snow in San Diego Mountains Provides Stay at Home Relief

It was during a virtual meeting on Zoom this week. The scene behind the working from home IT employee was snow covering trees in a forest.

It prompted the question, is that real or just one of those Zoom virtual scenes you can upload to put behind you? It was real, very real he said, and then he said that’s what it’s often like in Grand Rapids Michigan this time of year.

And then he asked what it was like in San Diego. When he found out there was a foot or more of snow in our mountains, just a quick trip from the city, he was surprised to hear about a real winter-like storm with that much snow in a place like San Diego. The National Weather Service is keeping track of the amazing snowfall totals.

Of course even for those of us who have lived here for a while or more, a winter storm like this one that could end up leaving as much as a foot and a half or more of snow on the ground is not the kind of thing that we get all that often, especially in the middle of March.

And as we also know, living in San Diego, means that when you want the snow, there is a time and a place where you can get it. And for those of us who had enough snow in our lives before moving to San Diego, we don’t have to worry about the snow falling on us.

But with the long stay at home COVID year we’ve had, there could be a lot more snow likers and even snow dis-likers heading up to the mountains to enjoy this snow in the not-too-distant mountains of San Diego.
