Asking the Same Questions After Another Mass Shooting

You may have heard it said in the last few days or even last few hours. You may have even said it yourself.

What is going on? It feels like things are out of control. Why is this happening?

Some of the things being said once again after yet another mass shooting in the U.S. This time at least eight people shot and killed at a Fed Ex facility in Indiana. This mass shooting of course following ones in Colorado and Georgia. And if you are one of the ones who are saying some of these things, you’re not alone.

And in conversations on the cable news channels, on the radio talk shows and among friends and families, these are the things that will be discussed and debated. Just like after every mass shooting.

While people disagree about what to do about what’s going on, one thing that everyone probably can agree on is that we have to do something about it.

But there is indeed a lot of disagreement over what to do. And the extremes become more extreme each time there is a mass shooting. There are calls to ban all guns and calls for everyone to have a gun. And there are disagreements over how best to help the mentally ill. And what do we do about evil? How do we prevent it and how do we punish it?

As we face the aftermath of yet another mass shooting in our country, these are the questions we all face.
