What Kids May Need to Do to Get Back to Normal

If you’re a parent and have been stressing out about the impact on your kids from not being in a classroom for most if not all of these past 14 months or so, you’re not alone.

A new survey is out that shows that the average parent in the U.S thinks their child has regressed as much as two full grade levels during the pandemic. And about half of about 2,000 parents with kids 8-13 years old say they think all children should retake their grade from 2020 when the new school year begins in the fall.

Two out of every three parents in this survey admit to being worried that their kids now hate learning because they’ve become so frustrated with distance learning and not surprisingly say they’ve seen their kids less interested and engaged. So about two-thirds of the parents say they’re considering signing up their kids for enrichment programs this summer.

Now while every kid is different, all of them have been affected in some way by not being in school for so long and virtually every expert agrees.

Teachers have had to find new ways to teach over these many months and now, teachers and parents, will need to find new ways to get kids re-engaged and on their way back to what was normal before everything became abnormal.
