How What's Happening in Afghanistan Hits Home

What’s happening in Afghanistan and what could soon happen there. hits home here…in San Diego.

Some of the nearly 25-hundred American troops who were killed and the more than 20-thousand have been wounded since the start of the war in Afghanistan 20 years ago were stationed here and were from San Diego.

Every Marine, sailor or soldier who fought in Afghanistan to prevent more terrorists who used it as their home from carrying out more terrorist attacks on America after the very deadly 9-11 attacks, carried out their mission. U.S. troops killed Osama bin Laden and many other terrorist leaders. And since Sept 11th of 2001, there have not been any further attacks like the one that killed about 3-thousand civilian Americans 20 years ago.

All those who bravely volunteered after the 9-11 attack and fought in Afghanistan, some paying the ultimate price, did what they knew they had to do and did it courageously. And what they did helped protect all of us who live here.

There has been and will be a fierce and political debate between those who favor ending U. S. involvement in Afghanistan and those who are against it. All three of the most recent U.S. presidents, Obama, Trump and Biden expressed their desire to end the war and bring our troops home.

Now it’s happening. But no matter what happens ahead, we salute and thank the brave men and women who for all these years dedicated themselves to serve and protect their country.
