Baseball Being Back is Good News for Fans and Businesses

How much does it mean for baseball fans to know the major league baseball owners and players union have shaken hands and will start the season on April 7th?

A lot! Just look at all the posts on Twitter and Facebook.

After two years of the pandemic and now the impact of a war in Europe on our psyche and feelings of security, any good news is good these days. The mask mandates going away or soon to be going away is also some of the good news in recent days.

For Padre fans, baseball in 2022 is wanted probably more than ever.  They watched their team get into the postseason in the shorter COVID-affected season of 2020 and then lose in the playoffs. And in 2021, they had to endure their team collapsing at the end of the season and not coming close to making it to the postseason.

And along with Padre fans, downtown business owners are happy too. They can now look forward to fans returning to Petco Park in the 2022 season and to restaurants and bars in the Gaslamp Quarter that won’t have all the mask and social distancing mandates.

So everyone has already marked their calendars with the date of April 14th when the Padres will play their home opener in front of what will undoubtedly be a huge and happy crowd and even if the Padres lose that day, it will still be a big win.
