You may be hearing more people who say they are worried about another surge of COVID because of the new sub-variant of the Omicron variant that caused the big surge in December January and February.
You may be among those who say they’re worried about it.
Dr Anthony Fauci and other top experts say they do not expect a big surge from this so-called Omicron 2.0, because vaccination levels are higher. But they do say a spike is possible because most of the mask mandates and other COVID restrictions have ended. And vaccination rates are still not as high as they say they should be.
The City of San Diego reported this week that 90-percent of all their employees are now vaccinated. The nearly 800 city workers, including 350 cops, have received exemptions from having to get the shots, but they are required to get tested every week or face termination.
Nationwide, the vaccination rate as a whole is only about 65 percent according to the reports from the CDC. And only about half of all of those in the country who are vaccinated have gotten a booster shot.
So, health officials are saying that if anyone is worried that there will be a new surge from this new variant, they should get the vaccine. We should know soon if there will be a surge, and we hope there isn’t, because that’s the last thing any of us wants.
