The images and videos being splashed across TV and online from what is happening to civilians in Ukraine at the hands of Russian soldiers and Russian missiles are gut wrenching.
They are the horrific and gruesome scenes of war, and many are asking if this war will become worse and spread wider, and when is enough enough and when and how will this war end. And we all want it to end. And now there is a call from the son of the late world-recognized evangelist Billy Graham for an Easter cease-fire.
Franklin Graham, who heads the international humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse which is on the ground in Ukraine providing aid to civilians caught in the devastation of war, says he has written to Russian president Putin and Ukrainian president Zelensky pleading for a 10 day cease fire during the upcoming Easter observances starting April 14 the day before Good Friday.
Graham says he hopes that if they can agree to a 10-day ceasefire, then “maybe they can stop fighting for two weeks…and then, “maybe they can stop for a month…and… “If they stop for a month, maybe they can stop for good.”
And Graham is calling on churches in Ukraine and in Russia, and around the world to join together in prayer during those 10 days.
So, you might be seeing even more of the pray for Ukraine hashtag on social media. And we hope and pray we see an end to the war, sooner than later.
