SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some new bike lanes are causing some confusion and frustration for residents in Mira Mesa.

The new striping on Gold Coast Drive has one lane in the middle for both directions of traffic and bike lanes and parking lanes on both sides. This means drivers have to move over into the bike lanes to avoid an oncoming car but they also have to yield to any bike riders.

San Diego City Councilmember Chris Cate said he and his constituents were left out of the loop on this project. The city council held a virtual meeting Monday to talk about the changes and has promised a review of the new street design, saying it could be changed back to a traditional two lane street.
