All deputies in San Diego County jails will all soon be wearing body cameras.
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved the purchase of body cameras for all sheriff's deputies assigned to jails in San Diego County. St About 80 deputies had been wearing them as a pilot program, and now everyone assigned to the jails will soon have cameras.
The move comes as interim Sheriff Anthony Ray puts in place recommendations from a state audit that found San Diego County had the highest inmate death rate in California over the last 15 years.
