The Secret is Out: Gavin Newsom is Running for President

CA Gov. Gavin Newsom has launched attack ads against 2024 Republican presidential contender Ron DeSantis in Florida, ridiculously suggesting Floridians should move to California. No doubt this absurd stunt is indicative of a 2024 presidential run.

While he has tried to deny it for months now, the jig is up. California Gov. Gavin Newsom is aiming to be the President of the United States - and seems to be gearing up for a run as soon as 2024.

Pundits have long speculated that the governor has higher ambitions — analyzing his rise from San Francisco mayor, to lieutenant governor, to governor. And as governor, Newsom routinely targets his policies and messaging to a national crowd — revealing what might be his next target.

The latest national PR stunt that cemented Newsom’s presidential aspirations is a campaign ad that debuted on July 4th in Florida.

The ad attacks local governor Ron DeSantis, a leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, and his administration. In it, Newsom urges Floridians to move to California, “where we still believe in freedom: freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate and the freedom to love.”

Carl DeMaio, chairman of Reform California, says “the ad is absurdly unhinged from reality.”

“Gavin Newsom running an ad touting freedom is about as absurd as the Devil hosting a prayer breakfast,” DeMaio quipped.

DeMaio says California fails the freedom test on virtually every front. “Hands down California has the least freedom of any state in the US - we’re talking bans on plastic straws, draconian lockdowns, constant infringement of the right to self-defense, complete disrespect for religious views, vaccine mandates - the list goes on and on and on.”

“California’s high taxes and onerous regulations on businesses means that the state also has the least economic freedom of any state in the union as well,” DeMaio adds.

But DeMaio says he welcomes Newsom to try for the Oval Office next cycle, noting the chaos it would bring to the Democratic Party.

“Let’s face it: Joe Biden in July 2022 is the most unpopular president at this point in his presidency of any president since Harry Truman, but if the Democrats ditch their incumbent they will have no mandate, no candidate, and zero advantage,” explained DeMaio.

“Newsom and other Democrats fighting for the nomination will further highlight their failures at governing, throw their party into disarray, and pave a clear path for common-sense Republican leadership to reclaim the White House,” he said.

Even better, says DeMaio, an embarrassment on the national stage for Newsom could end his career and deter him from seeking other state or national offices.

While Newsom — if re-elected this November — would be barred from running for a third term for governor due to term limits, he could seek other offices. And there is precedent, as former governor Jerry Brown served as state attorney general after his first stint as California governor.

“Newsom has gone relatively unchecked in California because he has the liberal media in his pocket and they treat him like royalty, but an embarrassment and shellacking on the national stage could taint even the most liberal voter’s opinion of him in California and prevent him from holding office here again,” said DeMaio.

“But we have a chance to stop Newsom and any presidential campaign right now by defeating him this November and electing Brian Dahle instead,” he continued.

That’s why DeMaio is urging all Californians to join the campaign today to flip key seats, like the Governor’s Office, in the 2022 election by encouraging your friends and family to vote and support Reform California.

“Together we can restore some common sense to government, make California safe and affordable again, and stop Newsom from taking his failed policies nationwide,” concluded DeMaio.
