Lakeside Teen Convicted of Hate Crime Learns Her Fate

SAN DIEGO - A Lakeside teenager convicted of a hate crime has learned her fate.

The 15-year-old girl was ordered to spend time in a camp for juvenile offenders for no more than 120 days. This after she was found guilty last month of assault and hate crime chargers in connection with an incident in April that lead to the stabbing of a 16-year-old African-American girl. The 15-year-old apparently threatened a woman with a metal drainage gate when the woman's daughter, the stabbing victim, intervened.

Prosecutors say the girl's boyfriend then stabbed the victim twice while hurling racial slurs. He could be tried as an adult and is set to appear in court again in October.
