SAN DIEGO - A school district in San Diego County is reviewing a recent classroom lesson that featured Adolf Hitler as a great world leader.
Dr. Roy David tells NBC 7 his son, who attends Carmel Valley Middle School, told him about the lesson.
“I think a portrait of Adolf Hitler on the wall is inappropriate," said Dr. David. "This is one of the worst people in history.”
A picture of Adolf Hitler was featured among other positive world leaders such as the Mahatma Gandhi and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Doctor David and his family are Jewish and has family members who were victims of the Holocaust. He has contacted the school as well as the Anti-Defamation League about the issue.
The San Dieguito Union High School District says the picture of Hitler has been removed from the board in the classroom and the lesson is under review. The district also said it plans to have a listening session with the Jewish community and provide anti-Semitism training for staff.
