SAN DIEGO - An investigation is underway after a teenager was shot to death outside of a Mira Mesa home.
The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on Deering Street north of Westmore Road. Neighbor Lorna Blechynden tells NBC 7 she's shocked by the incident, which has left her and other neighbors and San Diego Police questioning what happened.
"Crime has been increasing over time here," said Blechynden. "It seems less and less safe."
The 18-year-old Hispanic man was found in the street in front of a home suffering from at least one gunshot wound. First responders tried to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released any information about a possible suspect and so far no arrests have been made.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call San Diego Police Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
