SAN DIEGO - A Point Loma Pre-school and Day Care Center abruptly closes its doors.
The Honey Bear Daycare and Child Care Center in Point Loma is no more. After 55 years, the center locked up the gates for the final time right before Thanksgiving.
"The fact that the teachers were given a week's notice to find a new job, during the holidays, just feels so abrupt and so terrible for the teachers," parent Katie Golland tells reporting partner 10 News.
Golland started a GoFundMe for the affected teachers and has raised more than $5,000 so far.
As to why the school shut down, the school sent an email to parents blaming higher wages and other issues facing the childcare industry along with competition from public programs.
