SAN DIEGO - The County of San Diego has reportedly reached a settlement with the family of a man who died after he was beaten beaten and restrained by Sheriff's Deputies.
Court documents obtained by reporting partner 10 News show the County and the family of Lucky Phounsy still need more time to complete the necessary paperwork but the dollar amount of the settlement remains unknown. This comes after a judge threw out the $85 Million in damages awarded by a jury earlier this year, saying the award was just too much.
Phounsy was experiencing a mental health episode in April of 2015 and Sheriff's Deputies tased him, punched him and restrained him. He went into a coma and later died.
