Orion Capsule now in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - The Orion Space Capsule from the Artemis One mission is now in San Diego.

The USS Portland brought the unmanned capsule into Naval Base San Diego Tuesday morning. It will be at the Navy base for about two days as crews get it ready for transport to Kennedy Space Center, which is expected to happen early Thursday morning. Once at Kennedy, NASA will begin to extract the data from the capsule.

This recovery efforts with the Navy will help inform logistics for future Artemis missions. The first Artemis mission with astronauts is expected to launch in 2024.
