More Delays for OC Rail Line Repairs

SAN CLEMENTE - Days of heavy rain and inadequate plans from nearby homes have caused more delays to the repairs being made to a rail line between San Diego and Orange Counties.

The Orange County Transpiration Authority says the location of existing foundation piles for homes on the hillside were not properly noted, which caused engineers to change their plans for placement of ground anchors to prevent the track from sliding. One set of ground anchors has been installed.

Passenger rail service has been suspended in the area since September of last year, although Amtrak is offering bus service to replace the route, but some freight service continues at a slower speeds. The rail line was expected to fully reopen by February.
