Passengers Safe after Pilot makes Emergency Landing on beach in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD - No injuries were reported after the pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing on a beach in the North County.

The plane went down around 7:45 a.m. Thursday in an area of South Carlsbad State Beach. The FAA says the single-engine plane took off from Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego and was headed for the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana when the the pilot reported engine trouble.

The three people on board were safely removed from the plane, according to Carlsbad Police. The California State Parks department will be managing the incident.
