OCEANSIDE - The rain is causing more problems for crews trying to repair a sinkhole and broken pipes near Highway 78 in Oceanside.
"I think at this point we should be more prepared for a little rain," San Marcos resident Leticia Valencia told reporting partner 10 News.
Being prepared means drivers will need to give themselves a little more time to get where they're going. Some drivers saying it's taking 15 minutes to get through some intersections now because of the backup caused by the partial closure of the freeway.
Road crews also had to close some additional onramps to the 78 on Tuesday because of flooding.
“Now it seems like all our ground saturation is used up, just trying to move water out of the way and keep things from flooding,” said Malcolm Prante, a San Diego resident.
CalTrans says replacing the pipes under the freeway will now take another week but the exact timeline will be determined by the weather.
