We’ve now seen almost everything this winter season.
You’ve heard it this morning. One of the top stories in the news today and not just in California.
As an NBC News national report put it today, “The roof of a Montebello business was ripped off and more than a dozen other buildings were damaged Wednesday by a tornado during another day of severe weather in Southern California.”
Just another day of severe weather indeed. And we’ve had a lot of these days going back to January. Storm after storm. Atmospheric river after atmospheric river.
This is going to be remembered as one of the most severe winter weather seasons in California history. Not maybe the worst ever but still one that has seen it all...the very rare damaging tornado just the latest unusual weather event.
We have had some record amounts of rain, historic amounts of snow, evacuations and flooding and strong and damaging winds even before the tornado in Montebello. Hundreds of huge trees have fallen in Balboa Park. And sinkholes closing freeways and potholes on streets all over the city.
Yes, the winter of 2023 will be remembered for a long time. And it has a lot of us anxiously waiting for America’s finest weather to return to Americas Finest City.
