How Your Bedroom Can Help You Get Better Sleep

If you have trouble sleeping at times, and a lot of people say they do, you should know about some new advice.

We’ve all heard about how worrying and stress, our diet and our body position in bed all can affect our sleep.

But a doctor who’s said to be a renowned sleep expert and ear nose and throat specialist as well as a surgeon is out with some advice about how to get better and more sleep.

He says it’s all about the bedroom.  Dr. Michael Dilkes says what he calls a “stark and bare” bedroom environment can significantly improve the quality of sleep.

The idea he says is to use the bedroom exclusively for sleep and getting rid of a lot of the things in the bedroom. As he puts it, “If you go to bed in a room with TVs and coffee machines and other distractions, then you just don’t sleep as well as if your bedroom is stark, bare and just has a bed.”

He also recommends not spending a lot of time in the bedroom doing other things, saying that using bedroom only for sleeping can really help you sleep better and longer.

For anyone who has a hard time sleeping, guess it’s worth trying. That is as long as you can decide what stays and what goes in your new bare bedroom…without it keeping you awake all night.
