Why Comic-Con This Year Will Be a Blockbuster Hit

It’s here. It may be a little different than what it would be normally expected to be, but it is here.

Comic-Con, which has been San Diego’s largest annual convention for many years is happening this week, despite the writers and actors strikes in Hollywood.

The 54th Comic-Con in San Diego. And still considered to be the largest and best of the shows like it anywhere.

And while the star actors and creators from Hollywood may not be here in full force, there will be well over 100 thousand people who will attend.

And there will be even more who are coming to San Diego this week from all over the country, and out of the country, to stay at our hotels, eat at our restaurants, shop at our stores and who just stroll around the Gaslamp Quarter downtown, those with and without costumes, watching other people and looking at all the displays and attractions that surround them.

The executive director of the Gaslamp Quarter Association says business owners and their employees are ready and excited. And San Diego Tourism officials are thankful and happy, after the impacts the pandemic had, not only on Comic-Con, but on the tourist industry as a whole.

Our city depends on tourism for a healthy economy, and the people coming to town for Comic-Con are seen as super heroes who will help rescue us from the defeated villain called COVID and make for a much happier story to tell this summer in San Diego.
