WATCH: The Bad News We Have and the Good News We Need

Bad news has always been part of the news but it does seem as if every day these days…there’s more bad news.

Certainly, this week with the attack on Israel and now a war happening in the Middle East and a war dragging on in Ukraine and the disfunction and division in our government, the mass shootings and the crime and homelessness in our streets, there is plenty of bad news.

A question that has been raised is how all this bad news is affecting us. Mentally and emotionally.

A new report from Time suggests that this bad news is especially adversely affecting young people, especially teens.

The report at Time.com this week says today’s teenagers are living at a time when everything from school to social interaction is happening at least partially online and a fire hose of bad news is always only a swipe away.

A recent analysis by a health policy group says anxiety and depression or both increased by roughly 33-percent among kids in the U.S. between 12 and 17 since 2016. The study found that more than 40-percent of high school students reported often feeling sad.

Bad news can do that to all of us at times. And that’s why experts suggest limiting the time your kids and you spend on social media because there is a lot of bad news out there.

We need to remember what Anne Murray sang about not that long ago...that we could sure use a little good news today…and every day.
