The San Diego Padres have clinched a playoff spot in the MLB post season.
They did it in dramatic fashion Tuesday night as they turned a rare triple play to end the game and beat the Dodgers in Los Angeles by a score of 4-2.
After not getting into the playoffs last season, the Padres earned their eighth playoff berth in the history of the franchise.
They are guaranteed at least a National League wild card playoff spot with five games remaining in the regular season. The win put the padres just two games behind the Dodgers in the race for a division title.
