Another Stranger Who Could Be a Danger

You heard the report this week on KOGO about Stranger Danger, a warning that millions of parents and teachers have given to kids over the last few decades since 1989 when one incident sparked it.

It is every parents ongoing concern, that their kids are protected from the evil people who are out there.

And now this week comes the story about yet another person designated as a sexually violent predator being placed somewhere in San Diego County.

A San Diego Superior Court judge has ordered that a sexually violent predator be released as a transient because officials haven’t secured a place for him to live.

The release of these people into communities locally has led to protests by parents from Poway to Jacumba who understandably don’t want dangerous men living in their neighborhoods.

They know that sexually violent predators have been convicted of a violent sex crime and diagnosed with a mental condition that makes them likely to re-offend.

Public officials from around the county have joined parents and other private citizens fighting back against these placements for years now.

Many question why these kinds of criminals are ever released from state mental health hospitals.  It’s a good question and it’s a good reason why stranger danger programs continue.
