Little Italy Murder Suspect Was Under Domestic Violence Restraining Order

The man suspected of shooting a man and woman to death in Little Italy Wednesday had been scheduled to appear in court less than an hour after the killings.

NBC7 reports that court records from a domestic violence restraining order and a civil restraining order reveal that the female victim was having an affair with the suspect that began in August of this year. In her filing, the wife told the court that her husband discovered the affair and confronted the suspect in late September.

The report says that after that, the wife says the suspect began harassing the couple, repeatedly calling and texting their phones. She said the suspect repeatedly threatened to arrest her husband.

According to the court documents, on September 30th, the female victim says she went to the suspect’s apartment to ask him to leave their family alone. When she arrived, she says he pulled her by the hair, slammed her onto the ground, handcuffed her, and forced her to perform a sex act.

San Diego police arrested the suspected less than a week later on felony charges of false imprisonment, domestic violence, and forced oral copulation. The victim was immediately given an emergency protective order. The wife and her husband then filed restraining orders that were granted by a judge in October.

This past Wednesday, the day of the killings, the female victim was set to ask a judge to extend her restraining order. The hearing was set for 9 a.m. Police say both were shot to death getting out of their car just before 8:30 a.m.

NBC7 also reports that records reveal the suspect was licensed as a security guard in California and was certified to carry a baton and could open-carry three types of guns.
