Turning Travel Hassles into Holiday Blessings

If you’re old enough, you may remember that movie of years ago entitled  “Trains, Planes and Automobiles”.

It sure is a good way to describe what’s happening this Thanksgiving week as families head over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house they go.

And lots of them are apparently. The Triple A and the TSA both have predicted record numbers of travelers over this Thanksgiving holiday period. Estimates are just shy of 80-million people who a are travelling this week to Grandma’s house or other relatives’ homes to share time and meals with family.

That’s an increase over pre-pandemic times.

And it’s beyond trains, planes and automobiles. As a spokesman for the Triple A puts it “We’re expecting to set new records across the board, from driving to flying and cruising” as in ships at sea.

The airlines say planes are packed, airports are crowded and with some storms here and there some delays and cancellations are happening, so as they say, pack some patience if you’re flying.

And there also will be families who get together virtually on their phones or laptops with the younger folks setting it up so the digitally-challenged older folks don’t have to hassle with it.

But despite the hassles, it’s good to know how meaningful Thanksgiving is for so many people who realize that saying thanks for blessings and spending time with family and friends are at the top of life’s list.
