You’ve been hearing a lot of stories this week on San Diego’s Morning News about the events and the joys of the holiday season and the good things that people do for each other this time of year.
During the holiday season every year, there is a lot of talk and prayers about peace and goodwill. And the words just this week from the Pope got lots of attention.
As the first ever American leader of the Catholic church, Pope Leo was sure to get a lot of attention and news coverage on his trip to the Middle East.
But even more probably because there is not a lot of peace in that part of the world.
And this Chicago born Pope had some pretty direct things to say. He said new approaches are needed to overcome political, social and religious divisions.
As he put it, "The path of mutual hostility and destruction in the horror of war has been travelled too long, with the deplorable results that are before everyone's eyes," Leo said. "We need to change course. We need to educate our hearts for peace.
No better words at no better a time as we celebrate the holidays.
