The CEO of the Del Mar Fairgrounds, Carlene Moore, has been fired.
No reason was given for the decision, although the Union-Tribune reports the fairgrounds has seen a number of lawsuits under Moore's leadership.
Two years ago, the 22nd District Agricultural Association that runs the Del Mar Fairgrounds paid five and a half million dollars to the federal government, to settle allegations it received money from the Paycheck Protection Program during the pandemic, even though it wasn't eligible.
Moore's dismissal comes after a four hour, closed meeting Tuesday.
Board Chair Sam Nejabat will serve as a temporary interim CEO effective immediately
