Starbucks Staffer Slashed By Screaming Suspect

A woman accused of slashing the chest of a Starbucks employee is waiting a mental competency hearing to determine whether she is mentally fit to understand court proceedings.

According to The Times of San Diego, 39 year old Jessica Hernandez Melgar remains in the Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility without bail.

She is accused of felony assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from the March 12th attack at the Starbucks in Clairemont. 

The worker was taken to a hospital for treatment of a 4-inch long cut to his chest.
