Another SDG&E Rate Increase?

SDG&E has filed a rate request with the California Public Utilities Commission.

They are asking to increase average monthly bills next year for residential customers using electricity and natural gas by eight-point-six percent.

The agency says it's a general rate case, and will take over when the current rate case that started in 2024 ends at the end of 2027.

The new rates will start in 2028 and run through 2031. SDG&E says this is necessary for infrastructure and fire safety, but its opposed by consumer advocates and city officials.
