Three Camp Pendleton Marines have received upgraded valor medals.
This on the fifth anniversary of the bombing attack at Afghanistan’s Kabul airport that killed 13 service members and more than 170 civilians.
The three men, all now retired, served with Camp Pendleton’s 2nd Battalion,1st Marines at the time.
In a ceremony at the Pentagon Wednesday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth presented the Bronze Star Medal with Valor to retired Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Eby, the Bronze Star Medal with Valor to retired Lance Cpl. Jordan Houston and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor to retired Cpl. Michael Gretzon.
