Millete's Murder Sentence Delayed

Larry Millete’s sentencing has been delayed to November 2, 2026, pushing back the final chapter of a high-profile Chula Vista murder trial.

Convicted over two months ago of first-degree murder for the death of his wife, Maya Millete, he faces 25 years to life in prison. With credit for time served, the 44-year-old could be released as early as 2049 at age 67.

CBS 8 reports the postponement comes at the request of Millete's defense team, who need more time to gather evidence. They are currently subpoenaing witness transcripts and media interviews with jurors to support a motion for a new trial or a future appeal.

Appearing in a Chula Vista courtroom on Tuesday, a shackled Millete in a jailhouse jumpsuit personally confirmed the delay with the judge.
