Governor Newsom has signed two Senate bills which will help the Midway Rising project move to development.
SB 344 and 958 are both designed to limit the impact of the California Environmental Quality Act on the project.
Both bills were authored by state Senator Akilah Weber Pierson, D-La Mesa, and sponsored by San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria.
The Midway Rising plan calls for a 16-thousand seat sports arena, over four-thousand residential units, parks, open space and 130-thousand square feet of commercial space.
