Disneyland Will Not Reopen July 17, 2020

Disneyland Resort announced on Wednesday that they will not reopen their theme parks and hotels on July 17, 2020 as planned. According to the announcement, the delay is in response to the state of California not providing guidelines soon enough.

"The State of California has now indicated that it will not issue theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4. Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials," Disneyland said in a statement.

Although it wasn't referenced in today's statement, Disneyland's employee union had expressed concerns about their health and safety and asked for the state to delay the park's reopening.

The reopening planned for July 17 was pending local and state government approval.

The delay will not affect the reopening of the Downtown Disney district on July 9, 2020.
