San Diego Hospitals In Need Of Masks & Gloves - How To Donate

If you have unused personal protective equipment (PPE) and supplies that you are willing to donate, the San Diego medical community needs your help. A shortage of critical items, such as medical grade masks, gloves, protective gowns, and goggles or eye/face shields are needed for as the threat of the coronavirus pandemic continues to grow.

The county's major medical systems are managing supplies, but as San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer admitted, the “storm” of this pandemic is yet to arrive so facilities need to shore up supplies of protective gear.

UCSD San Diego Health is accepting medical-grade equipment/supply donations as follows.

  • Drop off: at their Medical Center in Hillcrest, but you'll need to coordinate a Monday - Friday drop-off time with Carlos Olvera in advance, colvera@health.ucsd.edu.
  • Ship to: UC San Diego 200 West Arbor Drive, Attention COVID-19, San Diego, CA 92103

Sharp HealthCare has set up drive-through donation locations, open Monday - Friday from 9am - 4pm and Saturdays from 12 noon - 4pm.

Neighborhood Healthcare is accepting donations of PPE supplies and monetary donation allow us to provide care for those who cannot pay.

Palomar Health Foundation is facing millions of dollars in unplanned costs in order to prepare for a possible surge in patients. This includes the purchase of critical supplies such as masks, isolation gowns, testing supplies and personal protective equipment. We have also experienced new labor and facilities expenses in rushing to construct screening areas, respiratory isolation tents and negative-pressure hospital rooms for COVID-19 patients.

Because all elective surgeries have been cancelled, Palomar Health is dealing with a major loss of revenue. It's hard to predict how long we will have to operate in this emergency mode.

  • Gifts to the COVID-19 Emergency Appeal will help Palomar Health address our most immediate needs related to this crisis. That includes funding for the equipment and personnel needed to identify, isolate and treat coronavirus patients and prevent the virus from spreading. Details here.
