The LEGO Batman movie was the big winner again this past weekend at the box office.
And you might think how does a movie based on LEGOs become a #1 movie?
But if you’ve seen it, you probably know.
It’s not just for kids. Just like the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons that baby boomers grew up with, the LEGO Batman film is for adults too.
Having seen it this last weekend with my wife and two 8 year old grandsons, it quickly became apparent the film was targeted toward today’s kids and yesterday’s kids.
And it didn’t take long for the reaction among others in the theater to prove it.
There were just as many laughs from grown-ups as there were from kids. Maybe even more.
Especially right behind us. Yep we had the loudest and longest lasting laughers right behind us.
You’ve probably been there. You’re watching a movie and it’s just your luck to have found seats right in front of the super loud laughers.
They laugh at everything. Even the parts you think are supposed to be more poignant and serious.
And they’re not only laughing of course. They are almost having laughing conversations with themselves.
We all survived and still enjoyed the LEGO Batman movie.
But when your wife is one of those who just seem to always end up sitting in front of loud laughers, or noisy talkers, or constant coughers or inconsiderate seat-kickers, there usually is a long period of time between going to the movies.
And that’s why we always have a supply of movie popcorn at home.
