POLL: When San Diego's Weather Makes News

So have you had enough?

After a record for rain in one day and after having storm after storm hit San Diego this winter, and after all the flooding, and leaky roofs and mudslides and traffic messes, you probably are saying, yes enough already.

A year ago we all had different complaints about water restrictions and brown lawns.

We were still in the middle of the drought.  But we had hope.

Because it was predicted to be an El Nino year and that was supposed to mean above average rainfall. We didn’t get it.

Then going into this winter, we figured the drought was going to go on for a bit because the year was supposed to be a La Nina year which typically below average rainfall. That didn’t happen. We’ve had more rain this winter than we’ve had in 6 or 7 years.

So obviously all those predictions proved one thing, they are not always right when it comes to predicting weather.

After this latest storm, a record-setter, any concerns about the drought should be washed away. The drought is over.

But that doesn’t mean the problems from the weather are over.

All the green lawns and the green hillsides are welcome sights after years of drought.

But of course when the hot weather in the summer and fall arrives, there will be a concern about more fuel for brush fires.

For now, though we can be thankful for the drought being over and after all this rain this winter, start getting used to San Diego’s boring weather again.
